Euradvantage® project set as its goal the strengthening of the European nations’ understanding of their common cultural inheritance through concrete actions, on a privately funded basis. Throughout the course of history, more than simply a geographical term or political reference, ‘Europe’ has always existed as a cultural reality, and this "European condition" has always found expression in the most diverse celebrations and festivals, which could be more generally referred to as ‘events’.
‘Celebration’ is an expression of the spontaneous joy to life and of a deep-rooted community feeling. It is an expression of the vitality of human culture bursting forth, the very extension of being and consciousness, which itself magnifies and radiates life in all directions. Celebration creates a sense of community, both between people as individuals, and between men and the divine. It gives joy and new life to all who share in it, and serves as a force of rejuvination and transformation.
In today’s Europe, alongside the original feastdays in Roman Catholic regions, there is an abundance of secularised festivities which have taken upon a historical significance, or forms of games, musical celebrations and fairs which have developed into sporting competitions, festivals, rock concerts, and exhibitions.

"As a European I welcome the publication of this Top 500 Events guide. It's really much more. It's an encyclopaedia of regional traditions and customs in Europe , and a valuable journey planner for every European citizen. It will be my vademecum on trips throughout Europe in future.
I hope that you too will derive plenty of enjoyment from the guide, and that it will help to bring Europe still a little closer together."
