wind, that heavenly child, lends wings to our soul”.
Nowhere can a man experience this feeling more, than during
the flights of kites and hot air balloons. Who has not dreamed
of floating silently and aimlessly over the landscape with
Jules Verne and Phileas Fogg?
Naturally these aerial celebrations take place above all in those parts of Europe where the winds blow with the greatest constancy - by the North and Baltic seas with their almost infinite sand beaches. Should you happen to see the Pyramids and Sphinx as you lean out of the balloon’s basket, you might imagine that you have been blown miles away by a jet stream to Egypt or that you are experiencing a hallucination – but no! it is only the giant sculptures of one of the ever more popular sand sculpture festivals.
