Budapest Parádé

Budapest | Pest Megye  | Hungary

Location: Andrássy Str.,Aufmarschplatz Felvonulási Pl
Event period: Feast of Corpus Christi

The Budapest Parádé is said to be the biggest street party in Hungary and, as a celebration of the end of summer you can enjoy yourself outside for one last time before the grey autumn days set in. Similar to Berlin's “Love Parade”, Budapest’s festival is also packed with colourfully decorated floats, accompanied by dancing people, that drive along the streets of the city. The parade convoy passes between Roosevelt square and hero square thus passing along the most beautiful routes of the capital. From the rolling stages, electronic dancing music hammers its beats, and rhythms surround the historic Andrássy út in an unusual atmosphere. In contrast to Berlin, the music played at the Hungarian parade is not only techno music. The Budapest Parádé is more of a cultural show, where the most important representatives of Hungarian cultural life and show business appear. Also, if you don't appreciate this kind of music, you will still have plenty of reasons to wander around, since the fantastic characters of the parade pose and dance in unusual costumes with fitting make-up and hair-style. In the past years, Hungary's small Love Parade has even competed with the Grand Prix of Hungary which took place the same day. While about half a million people danced at the parade in beautiful sunny weather, only 100,000 spectators found their way to see Schumacher and Co. on the Hungaroring. The “Budapest Parade” is organized by the same team as the “Sziget-Festival” which guarantees a great atmosphere. Until 10 o'clock at night, people are encouraged to celebrate on the streets of Budapest. Afterwards, the parade moves to a number of small parties in the clubs and bars of the city.
