Europride

Oslo | Norway

Location: City
Event period: Feast of Corpus Christi

Europride has been held for 10 years now and this year, after being hosted in Manchester and Berlin for the past two years, it will be held in the Norwegian capital of Oslo. For 10 days, the everyday life of the city will be turned upside down and it will become the capital of the European homosexual scene, entertaining its visitors with numerous events. Cultural and sporting events, socio-political and economic panel discussions, and gay and lesbian lifestyle exhibitions are only some of the events that will be organised during the 10 day festival in Oslo. Europride can be compared to the CSD (Christopher Street Day), but it has a distinctly rounded European, and thus international, approach. In the past years, the festival, incidentally among the biggest of its kind in the world, is a real audience magnet – Hamburg estimated attendance by half a million visitors. Once you are in Oslo, you should take your time to explore the city, since it has quite a lot to offer. For example, go and visit the “Vigeland Sculpture Park”. It is the most popular attraction in Norway with more than a million visitors per year. The park contains a world-famous collection of sculptures. Among them there are 180 works by Gustav Vigeland, a renowned Norwegian artist after whom the park was named. One of the highlights is the 18 metre high and 470 ton monolith entitled “Cycle of Life” which consists of 121 interconnected human figures. You also shouldn't miss the “Viking Ship Museum”, which contains three of the best conserved Viking ships in the world. Be it Europride or other attractions – Oslo has a lot to offer.
