Location: Amsterdam Canals
Event period: Feast of Corpus Christi
The Amsterdam Gay Pride is a 4 day spectacle, having as its annual highlight the extravagant Canal Parade. Differing from all the other parades in Europe, this unique mega event in Amsterdam will take place on water for people do not only celebrate and dance on the streets and in the pubs, but also on the Amstel, which is part of the scene of this lively and colourful parade. Last year, the 80 odd boldly-decorated boats attracted about 250,000 visitors from all over the world and this year again hundreds of thousands of visitors will be filled with enthusiasm by this exceptional festival. All around the parade a great programme has been organized with a variety of sporting and cultural events including a film and a dance festival. People will celebrate for four days at uncountable organised street parties and special club-events that once again will do justice to Amsterdam's reputation as the capital of gay and lesbian parties.
